Appointments, Fees, and Terms of Payment

Appointments

A session normally lasts for 60 minutes unless we make prior arrangements. Sessions usually take place once a week.

You can refer yourself – what is known as a self-referral – or a family doctor or any other health care professional can refer you.

My hours are 9.00 a.m. – 7.00 p.m. Monday to Friday. With prior arrangement, I will occasionally accept appointments on the weekend.

Free Consultation

I offer a free no obligation 30-minute consultation for people who are inquiring about my services for the first time. This gives us a chance to meet and talk and see if we are a good fit. You can explain your concerns and ask any questions you wish, and I can ask questions and determine if I have the necessary expertise to help you. If I don’t, perhaps I can refer you to a colleague who can.

Cancellation

If you must cancel or reschedule a session, please give me as much notice as possible.

If a session is cancelled with a minimum of 24 hours notice, there is no charge. Any sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be billed half the normal fee.

If you have any questions, please give me a call at 604.852.4818 (Abbotsford) or 604.463.3026 (Maple Ridge), or email me.

Fees and Terms of Payment

The cost of a 60-minute session is $ 140.00 CAN.

Payment can be made by cheque, cash, debit card, or credit card (VISA, Mastercard). Payment is due at the start of each session. I will issue an official receipt that you can remit to an insurance company for reimbursement, or keep and use as a medical expenses deduction on your tax returns.

The BC Medical Services Plan does not cover psychologists’ fees. However, many workplace health benefit plans and other coverage may pay for all or part of the fees.

These include:

  • Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC)
  • Worksafe BC
  • Criminal Injuries Compensation
  • Employee Family Assistance Plans (EFAP and EAP)

Some extended health plans — such as Great West Life, Manulife, and Pacific Blue Cross — also may cover a portion of the costs of counselling.

Check with your employer or health plan provider, or ask me how some or all of your therapy may be covered. Direct billing to third parties is only possible with prior approval.

Additional Points

  • Telephone calls over five minutes long and completion of insurance claim forms will be billed at the hourly fee.
  • Overdue accounts will be charged interest at 24% per annum from the date of billing.
  • If at any point fees become an issue, I encourage you to discuss the situation openly with me.

If you have any questions about payment, please call me at 604.852.4818 (Abbotsford) or 604.463.3026 (Maple Ridge). Or email me.
