About Me

I haven’t always been a registered psychologist. For most of my life I pursued other interests, which, as it turns out, inform my present day practice.

I taught elementary school for four years in the Kootenays, followed by eight years as an elementary and high school counsellor in rough urban schools in Surrey. This experience provided plenty of insight into the challenges that kids of all ages face today.

And failed relationships — yes, I’ve experienced the pain, despair, shame, and loss that these inevitably leave in their wake.

My time as an emergency services worker — both as a paramedic and ambulance dispatcher — brought me into close contact with many of the causes and effects of psychological and physical trauma. Much later, when completing my internship, I also worked with families of military personnel who were coping with the effects of posttraumatic stress disorder. This area of my practice continues to hold a special interest for me.

What does this mean for you? My commitment is to bring all of my professional training to bear in order to help you confront and overcome the challenges you are facing. To listen carefully and to maintain a holistic approach, all within a relationship characterized by empathy and caring.

If you feel that I can help you with the challenges you are facing, give me a call at 604.852.4818 (Abbotsford) or 604.463.3026 (Maple Ridge). Or email me.

Remember that I also offer a free 30-minute no obligation introductory consultation.
